Hello, i'm Betsy. James Morrison was my grandmother's grandfather's brother. She remembers hearing him play during the times he would visit America. They were called sessions. Everyone would come to hear her family, including James Morrison.

On behalf of myself, my mother Mary, and all the O'Dowd family, I would like to thank The James Morrison Committee, for choosing to honour my father Tom O'Dowd, at this years Festival. He would be very proud to have his contribution to Irish music acknowledged in this way, alongside his good friend and music partner of many years Gerry Fallon, and Gerry's brother Joe.

It's so exciting to find this online! The effort you-all have gone through in my grandfather's memory is just awe inspiring. I was just thrilled to have attended the festival last year. Very disappointed I wasn't able to make it again this year, hopefully next time. I hope everything was just wonderful.

Fascinating site! James Morrison was my maternal grandfather; I'm the oldest child of his daughter Theresa (who spells it with an H, actually). One of these years I'll have to bring my family to the festival and let my sons learn a bit more about their heritage. One of my brothers visited last year and had a great time.

Hello,

your site is an excellent resource!

I was looking through the Fleadh results and was happy to see my family name represented!
(a McCarrick from the Fred Finn Branch in Duos and trios). My Great Grandfather was a fiddle
player from the Tubbercurry area, from the generation that would include the fathers of Morrison,
Killoran, and Coleman. Now that I see your site and the festival plans, I'm wondering why I am not attending!

Maybe next time.

Tell Brian Conway I said hello!
Have a wonderful festival!

All the best!

Hello everyone,

I am sorry to report that this evening Andy McGann passed away at Cabrini
Hospice in New York City. Andy had been ill for a while but, for those
fortunate to have had a chance to see him one last time over the last week
or so, he was the same gracious gentleman we all knew and loved. His funeral
mass will be on Monday and I will forward further details regarding the wake
as soon as I learn them. There are, of course, no words to adequately
describe this loss. Andy was the fiddler's fiddle player.

Best regards,

Brian Conway

Morrison, Coleman, Killoran...nobody plays like them any more. Get the recordings, learn by ear and try to preserve it all!

Very Good site. Well laid out and presented. Good choice of background colours etc. Sidebar very easy to follow. I will await the samples of music from this years session as I probably won't get the opportunity to attend.

Hello, I am in search of the Viva Voce recording "The Professor" of James Morrison. I know that it is out of print, but would there be any other way to obtain this recording for my research? Thank you for your time, Best regards, Brock Napierkowski Dayton, OH
